HELLO JUNE!! This month totally sneaked in on me, seems May passed by in a blink and blur for me. Now that summer vacation will be here, officially starts this Friday for us, I wanted some fun ways to keep me creative in quick no stress kinda ways. Having the kids join in will be an added bonus.
Before I get to the summer ones though I want to mention a fun class that just started and last two weeks. My sweet awesome Shahrul at http://suchprettycanvas.blogspot.com has the info on her blog or you can go straight to their blog to see all the fun, colorful, creative ideas each day. I have already started the first two projects and enjoyed them. Their is tons of inspiration and it's free and their is giveaways. So jump over to http://letsgettrendynow3.blogspot.com/ to see for yourself. Hope you will join me, this is for anybody with any hobby!!
Now the first one I'm excited about is hosted by Kristin and hosts this colorful challenge thru the summer. This one is free and has giveaways too. This is her 3rd year doing it and my 2nd year. Last year I found her in the middle of it and loved that it involved testing ice creams to find her colors to use each week. Thanks to her my kids and I treated ourselves to Baskin Robbins ice cream many times over the summer. The colors and flavors were sooooo YUMMY!! This year she is putting a spin on it and WE GET TO CHOOSE THE COLORS!! She has a little voting box with some choices and you get to pick, and the winning colors will be announced every Monday. This class is for all hobby's too, paint, scrap, projects, sewing, quilting, beading whatever and everything counts. This class goes live with the newest colors next Monday so go there now to pick your colors and read more about this fun SUMMER OF COLORS FUN!!! I have her badge on the right side of my blog, click on that and it will take you right to it.
Next up is something I've done a few times this year but want to get more serious about it now and realllly want the kids to do this. I try to keep them doing some reading and writing over the summer and hope this will be an easy way for them to join me. We all have a minute to write everyday don't we?? So what better way then with a prompt and a little built in timer to use. I have the badge on the right side of my blog for you to click on and take you there. They have a daily prompt and you only have to write for ONE MINUTE, easy enough right! If you want to write more feel free but at least just that one minute everyday will get you writing and thinking. To make it easier on my kids, not going with the grammer/punctuation rules either, just want them to write stress free. So click on over to find out more and hope you will join us. Oh and they even had a special post awhile back on helping kids learn to love writing or at least get them writing.
Next up is at http://daisyyellowart.com/icad/ where Tammy hosts what she calls INDEX CARD A DAY thru June and July. Again, this is simple and stress free way to be creative in your own way with no rules. All you need is a stack of index cards and either follow her prompts daily or do your own thing. We already started this one, even Miss Sienna started some when she was here and loved it. Had to talk her into leaving them here for me though, haha. I bought a little box for them and will keep all of ours there and we can look back on them at the end of summer. So far I have posted mine on my Instagram but plan on sharing them here on a weekly or once every couple weeks kinda thing. It's amazing what some people will create on an index card, so creative and fun and WOW to see. I'm keeping mine simple so that I will keep up on it and not stress. I don't have the badge for this one but click on the link above and it will take you there.
One other idea I saw while surfing and didn't save it. Hope to find it again soon to read up more but it's about using a deck of cards and once a week, since there is 52 cards in a deck creating whatever you want on it. Same thing as the Index Card above but this is just a woman who does it for fun, no links and prompts or anything. I loved seeing her collages on them and want to try it. I'm thinking of going for a theme on them, maybe a face, a poem, color, collage, still thinking about it. This will be something just for me, not asking the kids because that will be pushing it, haha!
So there you have it, a start to our summer plans on busy, creative, fun things to do inside and off the electronics. I have ideas for outside too and will post them next week I think. Wrapping up my PL week 22, just got to do the journaling, of course one whole page has my MISS SIEANNA on it from my post below. I couldn't resist doing this with her, she is so dang cute and growing up so fast. Thank you ladies for the sweet comments on that post. I got so lucky to get good photos of her smiling and happy. Poor Colt is still not healthy and having all kinds of troubles so PLEASE KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS. He doesn't like being sick and isn't quite himself because he feels so yucky. Thanks so much!!
I hope you will check out these links and want to join some or all of them with me. I tried to keep some pretty easy ones. Let me know what you think! Make these work for you if your too busy, just do them when you can and it's still one way to be creative and making something pretty!!
Have a great day and thanks for being so awesome!!
p.s. I also have an email sign-up on the right side of my blog now too. Not sure if I mentioned that before. So sign-up if you would like to get an email update when I post.
HUGS!!
