I'm so happy to be sharing a art journal page with you today! Why is it making me so happy?? Well, first it's about TREES and you know how crazy I am about trees and second is because I got these done pretty fast which is a BIG deal to me. I'm going to show a close up of each one so first let me explain where this idea came from. My dear blog friend Shahrul had a page like this posted yesterday and I fell in love with it right away. In her post she shares about finding a poem called "Advice from a Tree" by Ilan Shamir and link to the poem and about how it came to be. Please Please go and check it out, you will enjoy it so much just like I did. Here is the link to her blog which will take you to the poem link... http://suchprettycanvas.blogspot.com please let me know what you thought. Now I put a little twist on my pages as you will see from her page. Hers is the actually poem about trees and I turned mine into specific trees and getting advice from them. How about close ups...
Of course this was the first tree I thought of, FALL FALL FALL my favorite season of all. To make these pages there is masking tape on the background and watercolor around the edges and little thru the middle. I used fallish colors and punched out leaves to give it a real fall look. I loved it!! Then I wrote some things that come to mind about my love for trees. Now for close ups...
I did some stamping on the bottom, LOVE THIS!!
sorry it's kinda blurry, but see the masking tape and orange splats, LOVE!!
My family loved this page too when it was done. I enjoyed putting a fun little twist on it and making it really about how I feel about trees. Now for the next tree close-up...
Of course a "family tree" comes to mind when thinking of trees, right?? This was a little trickier for me, whether to make it funny, quotes only, pictures of family, my family sayings, the list goes on. In the end I decided to put a few famous quotes in there and then my own personal feelings about families. There was suppose to be more hearts but I got carried away with the circle puncher, lol. I love how this one came out too. Click on the images for this and the above one to read the lists better. Let me know if you can't read them and I will list them. The color of this one does match Shahrul's art page too, I love these colors together and it reminds me of families ALL AROUND the world. Now for close-ups...
I used the same stamp at the bottom with some light green, so pretty and fun!!
See the paint and masking tape, MUST DO THIS MORE!! Who knew masking tape could be so fun and I love these papers. Thanks so much Shahrul for inspiring me today with your TREE post. So glad I took the time to jump right in and start 2 pages about it. I bet we will both be doing more of these!! I can't even pick a favorite, LOVE THEM BOTH!!
If you didn't see my Project Life post, scroll down to the one before this. It's my first full 10 days of what I'm thankful for. This week's thankful post will be coming up on Sunday I think, still loving this month of thanks. Happy Weekend everyone, take time to stop and admire the trees in your life.
This is so very pretty Dawn. I wish I can just let go and make beautiful and messy art journal pages.
ReplyDeleteLynette, thanks so much for the sweet comment. I struggle with my pages all the time that's why I was soooo thrilled these were so easy and quick. I've seen your pages and they are beautiful and creative. HUGS!!
DeleteWOW WOW WOW !!!. You made wonderful trees, LOVE LOVE LOVE them both. The Fall tree is especially pretty because I just love the punched leaves and their warm colors!. GORGEOUSNESS. I LOVE that you wrote your thoughts and feeling when you're making these trees (or maybe while you're under one). Yes, yes, please do more of these. There are so many trees around us we only need to listen to their whispers. I have heard a saying " when the leaves wave at you, you wave back" .. I had to smile at this because I always said hello to trees when walking past them. The foreground stamping is beautiful too, so creative with the splashes :). Oh happy day!!. HUGS.
ReplyDeleteShahrul, thank you so much for the inspiration and the sweet comment. I love the leaves too, at first I thought circles but knew the leaves would be better. I will do more and hope you will too. From now on I will wave to the trees and say hello!! HUGS!!
